Meanwhile, the numerous retail outlets known as URC (Unit Run Canteen) operating nationwide continue to function in offline mode. AFD CSD Online Portal Holidays 2025
The CSD Canteen’s online platform operates continuously, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. However, it is important to note that the Canteen Stores Department (CSD) does not operate for profit. The primary objective of the CSD is to provide services to the three branches of the armed forces, as well as to retired personnel and their family members. Consequently, the online platform will be temporarily closed for few days each month to facilitate account settlements with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). This closure may last for up to three or four days. Sales will resume as usual in the first week of each month.
It is essential to clarify that the AFD CSD online portal does not directly purchase items from manufacturers; all transactions are conducted through Local Supply Orders. The CSD AFD Team initiates sales by acting as an intermediary between the manufacturer and the customer. Upon delivery of the items to the customer, the payment received from the customer is then transferred to the manufacturer. The process is as follows:
- The customer pays the amount into the CSD bank account.
- CSD issues a Local Supply Order to the customer.
- The dealer delivers the item to the customer based on the Local Supply Order.
- CSD subsequently pays the dealer the agreed amount.
CSD URC Canteen Holidays 2025
The retail outlet of the Canteen Stores Department (CSD) is referred to as the Unit Run Canteen (URC). The URC offers a wide range of products to CSD customers. All items available at the URC are procured from the respective Depot canteen. CSD operates 34 Depot canteens across India, each situated in the capital or principal city of the respective states. The Depot canteens acquire all Non-AFD items from manufacturers, benefiting from a 50% GST tax concession. Each URC canteen is required to close for few days at the end of each month to facilitate account reconciliation with the Depot canteen. Additionally, they will observe a weekly closure for one day, which may occur on weekdays, excluding Sundays. The management of each URC canteen will determine the specific day for the weekly closure, which may vary among different URC canteens.
Working Hours of CSD URC Canteen 2025
The operating hours of the CSD URC Canteen for the year 2025 are as follows: Typically, all URC canteens operate in the morning from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM and resume service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Following the lunch period, sales will commence again from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM and continue until 6:00 PM, depending on the local weather conditions. The management of the URC canteen will determine the working hours based on the convenience of their customers. CSD Canteen Holiday List 2025
All CSD Depots and URC Canteens will observe holidays on all National Holidays. Additionally, the CSD Canteen will remain closed on the gazetted holidays announced by the Canteen Stores Department (CSD) each year. The list of gazetted holidays is applicable to the CSD administrative offices, Depot Offices, and URC Canteens. However, the URC and Depot Canteens may adjust their specific holidays in accordance with local regional festivals.
